Need help with some comp issues...i randomly get the blue screen

well it all started after my cousin plugged in his external HDD into my comp. he had done this many times befor, but this time, the blue screen popped up and i shut off the computer. now , after the "incident" everytime i turn on the computer I get a blue windows screen telling me my hd volume is "dirty"...it checks the files and then windows proceeds to boot. the chkdisk thing happens everytime i turn on the pc, but also from time to time i will randomly get the blue screen while just using the computer. When i get the blue screen, shut off the pc, reboot, and eventually log back into windows i get a box telling me the system has recoverd from a serious error and it ask wether i would like to send microsoft a email abt it, when i do, i am eventually taken to a page that says the prob was caused by a device driver, but MS has no solutions. I have run various virus scans and whatnot and nothing came up. also as a sidenote, it wont allow me to defragment my HD, it says that CHKDISK is scheduled to run and that i should run that first, but when i attempt that using the run command, it doesnt work...

any ideas? any help is greatly appreciated
