I purchased a PowerColor x800xl with VIVO for capturing VHS videos to my PC for preserving home videos on DVDs. Seems like a fairly straight forward process, given all that I have read.
What I can't figure out now is how to display the video input signal real time, full screen, on my LCD, and without capturing the signal to disk. What software package will enable me to make a full screen display happen? I want to run GameCube, N64 or XBox through the video card to display on the computer monitor. All games will at least connect composite to the VIVO cable and audio card.
I currently have Intervideo WinDVD4 and Windows Media Center installed. Neither seems to have a 'full screen' setting, and WinDVD4 insists on capturing any input to disk. I think the WinDVD4 came with my combo drive. ATI MultiMedia Center will not install with this card.
From my video card, I have a CD for a Cyberlink bundle including PowerDirector SE+. My DVD burner came with NeroExpress v6.3.1.26. I don't want to install all of these similar packages, to avoid system conflicts. At the same time, I don't know if the non-installed software have 'no-capture, full screen display' capability anyway.
What shareware or inexpensive software package will allow me to display and play game consoles on the PC? Can I do it with one of the packages that I already have?
I've read many posts on other forums (Google is your friend...) but none mention specifically the software needed to run in 'pass through mode'. Many discussions on how good or bad composite signals work for capture, or how composite capable LCD monitors do with game consoles, but not what I need.
And yes, both of my PCI slots are taken by other hardware. (Is there a <$20 PCI-Express TV tuner card? )
