ok... im gonna lay my problem out and see if anyone can help me. I live in a university residence hall with a 10 mps connection. going across university lines (trasfering from withint the university) i should get about 500 k/s. i am only getting about 8 k/s. all settings on my nic are correct. the port has been checked and it is fine. the only thing left is my machine. the only thing that i can think of is that my nic and my sb live sound card are sharing an irq. it was using the same irq as my promise ata66 controller, but i moved my nic. i have switched nic and cables with no change. are there any registry settings or anything that may have gotten goofed? please help me... i didnt pay $170 a year for a sub-dialup connection....

thanks

p.s. i have also posted this in the network forum.... :)

Did you have a dialup connection before?
If you did, did you use any utilities (PPP Boost, etc.) to alter your TCP/IP settings (MaxMTU, etc.)?

Try uninstalling your TCP/IP stack and reinstall it.
