Need help with simple drive configuration

I am going to be recieving my new plextor burner today, and have never really installed in a system i've built more then the standard 2 IDE device cdrom/hardrive.

I have the non raid kk266, would i just connect the burner to a middle connector of one of my IDE cables, and which middle connector should i use? The one for the harddrive or cdrom, and I assume the burner would be set as a slave. Keep in mind I'm trying to maintain maximum performance for all the mentioned components..

Thanks for any help in clearing my confussion!

I would move the CD over to be a slave to the hard drive and put the burner on it's own cable as a master. This will allow for better data transfer between cd-roms and between the burner and HD😀

So on channel 0, you have HD as master and CD as slave
on channel 1 you have the burner as master.
