Need help with shared internet on home network

Hi

I am setting up a network between my 2 PCs so i can share the internet between the 2

i had it all working fine (for about 10 minites)

and now it has suddenly died

i did move one PC into another room when it died but i really dont see how that has killed it (i have tested the network card on my mates laptop - its fine)

previously i was using static IP addresses (i set the gateway and prefered DNS of the receiver machine to the IP of the host machine)

and i have tried setting this up again

DHCP is not working for some reason since when i enable connection sharing on this PC it sets it static IP address but that also turns DHCP off and i cant find any way of turning it on without making the IP none static (which would kill the net sharing)

any help would be really apreciated since this is really p***ing me off now

Thanks for the links but really most of those are about how to set up a network and not troubleshooting

as i said in the original post i know how to set up a network and did so yesterday - i just cant figure out why it suddenly stoped working for no reason other than me moving the PC a little bit

What type of Internet connection?

How do you share?

How the computers are connected?

What OS you are using?

Which DNS you are talking about?

How would you expect Troubleshooting?

ICS is very particular in the way it uses IPs thus you are much better off leaving the management of DHCP and DNS on Auto.

You can't:
disable the DHCP server.
change the server's IP address or the range of addresses allocated by the DHCP server.
