So basically, I know I've screwed up, but I have to ask some questions anyway. Here are the new parts that I bought:

Antec Aria mATX case
2x 256 PMi PC3200 2-3-2-6 RAM
AMD mobile Barton 2600+ (don't have the stepping on me, it's at home)
Chaintech 7NIF2 motherboard

So yesterday everything got up and running on the first try (always exciting), but then I noticed Windows reporting that it's running at 800mhz. Without voltage or multiplier controls in the BIOS, how else do I set the CPU speed? I'm assuming that I'll have to exchange it (for a fee of course), for something that DOES have those controls, but I'm just hoping for some saving procedure. There's a FSB setting and then a bunch of memory controls...how do I even get it to stock speeds? With the FSB at 133 it was running at 800mhz, and then at 200 it's running at 1200mhz...so the multiplier seems to be 6. How do I even get the stock 2ghz?

Thanks guys...and suggestions for replacement mobos are welcome too.

i have the same problem you do. mobile 2400 showing up as 800. from what i read (after i bought everything and put it together) this board doesnt allow you to set the multiplier.

I dont suppose you found something to work around that?

i emailed chaintech to see if they plan on releasing a bios update to allow you to set the multiplier (or for it to at least do it itself with the mobile athlons). Just emailed them today though, so nothing back from them yet.

this board has a jumper on the board that sets the default fsb to 100mhz. You have set it on pins two and three in order to achieve 133 mhz fsb. i can't remember which jumper it is exactly, but I know it's listed in the manual :)

good luck.

Did anyone ever figure out a solution to this problem? I'm having the same issue at the moment. I emailed Chaintech, but they haven't replied yet. :(
