Need Help with SETI Computer

Ok I have a biostar m7vkq with a duron 1200 and 256 mb pc133. I had it running under win2000 and it was doing wu's in 5:24 ave. Then I reinstalled with winxp and moved into a case and now I am having problems. I OC'd it to 140 FSB, disabled the onboard lan, hooked up a wireless usb adapter, and now it takes 5:38 to do a WU. I am using setidriver as a service via Firedaemon. But the worst part is for every 5:38 in processor time takes almost 8hours in real time. I am really confused about this. I have setidriver set to normal and this didn't help.

So can anyone give me a little help? Thanks in advance

Check the amount of CPU that wireless USB is using, you might be suprised the amount of cpu it steals.
How many automated functions (services) are running on your XP machine?

I was thinking along the lines of cakin. I have a laptop running wireless and it has never put out WU times very good.

Question: Were you running the computer without a case? I have found my CPU temps to be significantly lower when running outside of a case or at least with the sides off. Maybe the "new" case has higher temps and is causing problems?

look throught the services, disable lots of them (there are good walkthroughs on the web for this)
Really, unless you need them things like remote registry service need to get nuked.
Believe it or not, remote registry service is on by default.

Thanks for the help guys. I think the cause was the compaq wireless config app that sits in the tool bar. I got rid of it and "adjusted" some services , etc. Hopefully it will help. I'll let you know if it doesn't help and start asking for more help.
