hey all
I need a bot help with my scanner software. I got Win Xp here and today I got this old scanner. It is Plustek OpticPro U12. I downloaded the latest drivers and all but still I can't use it...
I need a prog to scan my pictures (I didn't got any software with the scanner) :( Any sugestions??? I found a prog called micrograpf picture publisher but i need something smaller in Mb and more easy to use.

And one more thing. Can anyone tell me any other prog other than Omni Page that can transform a text from a scanned sheet ot paper into text in Word format.

pepo,

I'm not familiar with your scanner but I'll try to answer the questions.

Your options will be very limited if you cannot install a TWAIN driver. Check with comp.periphs.scanners

Download Irfanview (freeware). This resource-light program scan scan, copy and do simple manipulations. If you want to buy something get PaintShop Pro 7 or Photoshop Elements 1. If supported by your hardware, the BEST scanning app is VueScan by Hamrick Software an it will work even if you cannot get a TWAIN driver installed. WinXP has a camera & scanner wizard that allows you to capture as well. I usually use PSP7 ($70) for scanning photos, slides & negatives.

Scansoft basically owns this market with their products OmniPage and TextBridge. There is one other I'd suggest : Abbyy FineReader which in my experience has higher accuracy but is somewhat slower. I use OmniPage Pro 10 ($80).
