Need help with recovery of files on a mac

I recently took 300 pictures with a camera on an SD card and only have a macbook around at the moment. However somehow the pictures seem to be deleted (they have not been written on) and since I only have a mac at the moment and would like to recover them.

Is there a way or some software I can use to do this?

Major props if you're able to help.

Did you import them into iPhoto? If you did there's a good chance it is still in the Trash of iPhoto.

I don't know of any good free alternatives, so if you own one for Windows, it might be a good idea to just throw the SD card to the side and make sure not to use it until you can get to one.

But I highly recommend Data Rescue 3.. unfortunately it's $99. 🙁

Well.. did a little more digging and found these solutions. Both all the ones that are compatible with Mac don't have a GUI, so you'll need to be a little comfortable entering Terminal commands, but they are free.

Did you check the SD card you bought? Most come with media recovery software included.
