Hey all, i built my first PC a couple weeks back. I looked at the temps in bios and in a program called nv monitor, or i tried to. The 'system' and 'cpu' temps are switched, or worse because someone else said they looked too cool.

nv Monitor yields 19-21 for CPU and 34 or so for system.

Athlon 64 3000+
chaintech vnf4/u motherboard
1gig corsair ram
antec tx case, 400w psu

Any idea what these temps are or how i can get the readings corrected? Thanks.

dont worry about what your temps are reading, try and find out the differences between idle and load.... should be about 30c ... if not then you may have a problem
a lot of temp readers are off and people complain about them being too high/low ..... the manufactuers change them in the next bios and then a different set of people are pissed off :)

Well i'm not really worried about what they are (probably because i dont know what they should be lol) but the fact that they appear to be switched, or completely wrong. CPU should be higher than system, right?

yes they look to be switched, but as I said, test it under load.... the sys temperature shouldn't rise much under load... that way you'll figure out which is which
sys temp goes up about 10-15c depending on if you're in hot or cold climate
cpu temp goes up about 30c
