(kingston value)

i got v to like 2.75 or 2.6 ive been ocing cpu
but i think my ram is causing crashes in bf2 only oced to 182 fsb from 166
do u think i could oc more if i had better timings

as it is now
FREQUENCY 180.9
CAS:2.5
RAS to CAS:3
RAS: 3
CYCLE TIME:8

NEED HELP!

only when it is oced
from 166 to 182
no problem with ram as i have said it is chitty value ram just tryin to experiment be4 patriot goes in!

Like the man said, memtest it. Just because it fails when it's overclocked doesn't necessarily mean it's the ram.

It probably is though.

Once you fail memtest, start loosening the timings. Start out with going from 2.5 to 3, then just play with it. If that doesn't get you anywhere go back to stock timings and use a divider.

Put a 120 mm fan blowing on the RAM and up the voltage to it in the bios by 0.1 volts DC. If that doesn't help, then to keep that overclock speed, you will need to loosen the timings settings some. Try the last number first and work your way back.

ok i have 333 mhz dual channel at 166

upped voltage ram is not bad i am using prime 95 the maximum heat setting and it runs fine

i thought memtest was ran at like startup can it be used while in windows i lack a working (damn nec) burner or a floppy drive

these are current settings:
FREQUENCY 180.9
CAS:2.5
RAS to CAS:3
RAS: 3
CYCLE TIME:8

i have ram upped voltage to 2.7

it only crashes to desktop

at 182 mhz

after bout 30 mins

i ahve good ram

i just need timings so i can oc!
i set timings to turbo setting so that might be fooling u guys but i can change it to expert and change all settings

remember the ram is not cpable of much considering it is crap value ******

If the default RAM voltage is 2.6, then I'd try as much as 2.9 volts on it.

In the end though, you are going to have to ease up on timings as you increase buss speeds and as you increase voltages to keep it stable, you will need to attend to RAM cooling issues.

My feeling is that if 2.5-3-3-8 works just fine at stock speeds (prime95, memtest OK) then you are crashing because you are exceeding the mhz you can run those timings at. It crashes at 182mhz? Does 181mhz work with these timings? If so, then you should either camp on 181 or loosen the timings to maybe 3-4-4-10 and see if you can hit 182 then.

Make sure you're using prime95 to test after every change you make. I've had success running the blend test for 5 minutes in between tweaks. I'll do overnight stress testing for when it seems that I've reached my peaks, and then I start backing off as necessary.

Seems like you should review the general methodology for overclocking... lots of good information out there.

they seem to work good havent tried bf2 with them yet

can i use 3 in cas instead of 2.5??? i thought that stayed with the ram or w/e when u have 2.5 stay 2.5 am i correct?
