Picked up a EMachines T3101 Sempron 3100+ computer at Circuit City for 400-150 MIRs =$250. Using it at my Dads house. I'm assuming its a socket 754. Microns website identifies it as a FIC.

It came with S3 IGP which uses 64MB of the system RAM which originally was 256k (DDR PC3200). So it effectively has 192 MB of RAM. There are two slots, one open.
Windows XP home SP2.

Seems a bit sluggish. Was wondering if adding more RAM would help and if so should I add an extra 256 or 512? I think 754 borads were only single channel so can I run different size sticks? Would Kingston Value RAM be OK or are their others that are inexpensive and good?

PS...it came with no floppy drive...is this commmon now a days?

download a program called CPU-z and it'll detects the information on ram.

check the motherboard's manual or website to see if that ram, kingston value can fit in that motherboard. from what i've heard, some motherboards are too picky with the rams so...

i suggest buying a stick of 512mb ram and you'll be fine.
