Need help with Raid MB

I have a Soyo P4S Dragon Ultra with a P4 processor. It has been working fine, but I cannot figure out how to use the extra IDE channels. When I tried to install another hard drive in IDE 3 or 4, nothing was recognized. If I enabled raid in the Bios and installed the raid driver, the computer would not boot. I would see that it recognized everything on IDE 1 and 3, but nothing comes up about IDE 3 and 4 and then it hangs up in the boot process. Thanks for any suggestions.
