every time i play a game after about 1 hour or so the monitor and system lock up. the monitor power light goes out and i lose all sound and everything. this only happens when there is a lot going on at one time in a game. it seems like it is to much and the system locks up. i am using the radeon driver that installed with windowsXP service pack 1 clean install. i have tried upgrading the video drivers but windowsXP will not let me do it no matter what i try. i have read the guide posted here about removing the old drivers and such but to no avail. i do not have another video card to test to see if something else is wrong with system and wanted to get some opinions on what could be causing this. thank you to those that try to help me. my system stats are listed below here

Have you downloaded the latest drivers for the 8500 from ATI? If so then go into control panel and select add/remove and select the current drivers to remove them. If the Windows drivers aren't listed load the ATI drivers. They should just overwrite the Windows drivers. Worked for me on an older Rage Fury Pro card.

I also wonder if your power supply could be faulty. 300 watts isn't a lot for the system you have. A 350 or more watt might be advisable. Good luck to you.
