Hi all,

I am now trying my second R9 380X card and I don't think I am so unlucky that I got two DOA cards.

My system is a biostar mb tz68a+ with a 2500K CPU, my PSU is Antec 500W.
My previous card is Nvidia 560Ti which still works in the computer.

When I install the card the fans are working but the screen is blank. My mb has two LEDS for trouble shouting which indicates that there is a VGA error.

Does anyone know if my setup is too old for the 380X card (either the mb or the 2500K)? Reading other forums it seems that other people have had luck with this setup.

I bought a 750W CX750 PSU but it did not make any difference.

Is there some 'strange' settings in the BIOS that needs to be tweaked?

Thanks,
Klaus

Does the monitor show no input signal on boot, and only when you hit windows it is blank display, or, is it blank all throughout?
If you don't even see anything on power on, then it seems like a BIOS issue. You also sure you connected both power plugs to the card?
You might also want to get a can of air, and blow out the PCIe slot or even try another PCIe slot for testing.
Another thing you can try is to clear CMOS on the mobo, I have seen that fix a few boards before.

Thanks for the replies.

I am using the latest BIOS (7-2012)

The screen is blank from the start, the cords are connected and I have tried a separate slot with no luck.

I have not tried to reset the CMOS, will try that, thanks

I'm having quite a similar issue with my new rig. I encounter a blank screen after I have logged into Windows. All new components built with usb 3.0 Windows 10 clean install onto 250 GB SSD only. After Win 10 install and reboot, Windows started updating all necessary drivers. After Radeon divers were installed my flat screen TV( Vizio 47") flickered then went dark. Was still running Windows in background but no display. I then did hard reboot and when I mouse click the Window before the sign in Window, all goes dark once again. All this happens with HDMI. I've tried VGA to DVI-D connector from monitor to DVI-D on graphics card but that results in no display whatsoever

Is there a setting in bios to fix this? And why do I not have display from VGA connection?

My GPU also seems to be putting out quite a bit of heat

That can't work, VGA is an analog signal, DVI-D is limited to digital signals.

As for your actual issue, have you tried booting into safe mode and putting in a correct display resolution? Alternatively, do a driver fix/reinstall/update through safe mode.

Tried in safe mode, lowered res and after reboot get back into Windows and then when I hit start tab or just bringing up any window it goes blank once again. I've reinstalled drivers and Windows but not in safe mode. I'll try your suggestion and update post. Thanks Piroko
