I should mention that he doesn't do any heavy work with his puter, but needless to say it has to be future friendly... games, movies... newb stuff....

Thanks for the imput

P.S. I want to talk him out of buying a Vision L from MGD for $1087 Canadian tax incl.
-pentium D 2.8x2 (don't know which one though, website too vague... 820 or 920 i geuss)
-22" lcd
-2gigs of ram
-1000 meg hard drive
-Intel?s Next Generation Extreme Graphics Media Accelerator X3000 (integrated i think)

My proposed rig has no hard drive or monitor. Do I have a good argument to not buy from MDG, I hope so. Please help......

I'm new here myself, but I've been getting alot of advice tweaking my own new build setup which is very similar to what you want for your friend. I don't know prices US vs Canadian, but I did a Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 for $521 US.

Shipping is free on that from time to time, hehe.

@OP: shop around for better prices. I don't know how good TD's prices are for CAD, but I do know they're not usually the best value for USD customers. Try canadacomputers.com and ncix.com. Again, I'll admit, I didnt check out the prices at all, lol, I'm just going by what other canadian customers use.

Thanks guys. Ya, I haven't price shopped yet. Just getting the gear sorted first.
Those are some sweet prices kilcan. I'll pass it along :)

P.S. Ya, Can Comp is usually better than Tig Direct. If you're in Toronto (I am) even better is R.O.T. Computers quite often at least.
