hi anyone have any experience of this? it throws up warnings of a trojan then opens up links to their website as well as bogging down your system.

I've run:

windows malicious software removal tool
Norton 2007 antivirus
AVG antivirus
AVG anti routekit
AVG anti-spyware
Adaware

none of which is nailing this. I need some help badly!

Anyone?

When I run into these I usually just type the name of the software they are advertising into google and then "remover" after it. Usually you can find someone who has written a tool or a tutorial on how to remove it.

What software is it advertising? Have you run spybot?

Exactly what I do, and just did, and it got me to this site:
http://privacyprotector-removal.info/remove/

Normally, I would be weary of such a shady named site, but it doesn't ask you to install any programs. Just gives you steps of what to kill/delete. There may be an automated program out there.

Hi guys it's a spyware removal website that it's spamming......

i've run into that removal site but can't find any of the files it's discussing so i think it's dodgy. Is there any way to do a format and re-install without the OS on disk? i've got a Dell with pre-installed XP and nothing on disk, i made a boot up disk but can you re-install from just that?
