1) Is there any way to force DVD playback to use 32bit color? Cause even with my desktop set to 32bit color, the DVD playback has color dithering and looks like it is using 16bit color...

2) At the moment PowerDVD is using software dvd decoding. It has detected my GeForce and has a check-box to enable hardware acceleration - but the box is grayed out...and there is a note that says "this option is only available when the player is in stop mode". Playing a DVD and then stopping it does not un-gray-out the box. What on earth is stop mode?
