I just bought a Asus A7N8X Deluxe and a barton 2500+. I want to overclock to the max. I'll be getting some good quality ram, possibly OCZ 3700 gold. I'm also going with either a radeon 9500 with softmod or a 9800np. anyway I want a good power supply to go with the chieftech case I've had for about a year. I was looking at the antec true power 480, but it's kinda pricey. I found a powertek 600 watt here. It's rated specs are similar to the true power 480 as listed at http://www.antec-inc.com/specs/true480_spe.html. Compgeeks is a great reseller and I've done a good bit of business with them. The thing I'm worried about is that their quoted specs could be wrong. Has anyone used this PS and had problems with it?
TIA,
Jason

If you are worried go with a name-brand, you DO get what you paid for, I have a 430 True Power and have not had a problem yet. Further name-brand power supplies are better at handeling surges and fluctutations in AC power coming to your computer....

Get Antec true power, it's more stable as it got a dedicated voltage control for each voltage (3.3, 5,12) -> good for overclocking. I am getting one this week, so it should be great :), and while you're at it get the one with the blue leds -> antec true blue 480W

You don't need a 480w PSU.. That's absurd unless you have a few cold cathodes and at least 3-4 HDD drives plus all of your other optical drives...

Go with a 350Enermax, Antec, Sparkle ( which makes a hell of a PSU for the money ) That should be more than enough..

I am currently running the following...

1700+@ 2.4ghz 1.775v
1 gig PC 3200
Radeon 9500 Pro
2 - Optical drives
1 - 80 GB WD
1 - 40 GB Maxtor
3 - Case fans, 1 which has an LED.
2 - Cold cathodes
And two LED strips down the front of my case....

I consider 1ghz overclock, overclocking to the max...

This is all on 350w Sparkle.

Well I did neglect to mention that I'm going with 2 raptors in raid 0, a Maxtor 80gig 7200rpm drive for extra storage, a cd burner, and a dvd burner. Maybe I don't need 480 watts but I want to make sure I have plenty of power. I'll probablly just go with antec unless I get someone who actually has one of these things posting that it's great. I looked at sparkle and at 350watts it seems to be a good deal but their 460watt was very close in price to the antec.

i have an antec true blue 480 watt psu and am very happy with it
make sure you get name brand
cause quality is more important than quality
also get as hi over 400 watts (name brand) as you can if your gonna be overclocking
having your psu hold you back is just a real bummer

Try a sparkle. They're great power supplies for the cost. Directron has a fortron 400 watt for $59 plus shipping (Last time I checked fortron = sparkle).
