i also tried installing like every codec pack possible, like k-lite and the others from free-codecs.com
i need help badly cause i'm so heated cause of this
anyone know what the problem is

My pal had this same issue. After a long time he tryed swaping his CPU's out. That seemd to fix the issue. Apparenlty he chiped his chip on one of those delicate corners and figured that this was the cause.

Download a program called GSpot. It will tell you what codec the file needs.

G-Spot

i used gspot already, it told me i got all the right codecs installed but the video still plays with distorted colors

Change your resolution, Change your color depth, Try the video on another machine to verify its not the video.

Maybe someone needs to make a sticky post about this issue with the latest Nvidia drivers. They seem to start out at some really high gamma setting. If you go to the color correction page in your nvidia control panel, I think simply hitting restore defaults will fix this.

you're a genious
the gamma setting was at 3.61 at the default and needed to be manually lowered to the lowest it can go
the problem is fixed
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
