I just purchased a Prolink Pixelview PlayTV MPEG2 TV tuner card from Newegg and I cannot get the drivers installed properly. I bought this card because I tried a friend's old tuner card and could not get it working. The old card was not supported with WinXP and the manufacturer only h\offers beta drivers. Now this new card is having the exact same problem as that old one. When I follow the installation instructions, the setup program installs the drivers and asks for a reboot. When I reboot, Windows XP gets about as far as the startup sound before crashing and automatically rebooting again, in a loop. I used the startup options to go back to Last Known Good Configuration so I could at least use the PC until I get this fixed. When I look in the device manager, there are 2 devices listed for this card, as there should be. One is the audio capture driver and the other is the video capture driver. The audio capture is fine, but the video capture driver has a problem. When I look at the details, it says I need to free up resources. This is referring to IRQs, not the Windows paging file. There is very limited support through the manufacturer, so I need all the help I can get. I suspect a compatibility problem with some other hardware. Here is what I have:
Mobo: Asus K8V SE Deluxe
CPU: Athlon 64 3400
RAM: 512mb PC 3200
Video: GeForce FX 5500
Sound: (mobo onboard sound won't work) Soundblaster Live! Value
Drives: 1 Maxtor 250gb IDE, 1 Maxtor 200gb SATA, Plextor 16x Dual Layer DVD-RW, Lite-on 8x DVD-RW(piece of crap, never use it anymore)
TV Tuner: PixelView PlayTV MPEG2 model PV-M4900
I tried installing that old tuner card in my other PC which is an Athlon 850 running Windows XP with a GeForce2 MX 32mb graphics card and it responded the same way. If anyone can help, please PM me.
