Im building my first rig.(going from ps4 to pc) and i need to buy a gpu. I only want to spend less than 300$ i play on 1080p 60hz monitor. I want something that i can play on ultra settings with minimum 60fps. Im looking to get battlefield 1 and the new call of duty so i need something to be able to play those games. Is there anything i can get with my budget?

480 or 1060 are you answers. If your goal is BF1 and such I'd wait until the game is out and see which performs better. Both are going to be around $250. However, do not expect ultra settings with 60fps mins with only a $300 budget for a gpu let alone whatever cpu you chose to go with.

Either a nVidia GTX 1060 6GB or a AMD RX 480 8GB card are the ticket if you can find them at around $260 or less on sale. I wouldn't recommend less than 4GB of vRAM as that will impact your ability to pick ultra/highest textures on some recent games, and likely more in the future.

You can pick up a XFX RX 480 GTR 8GB card from Jet.com currently for $259 shipped using SHOP15 or TRIPLE15 coupon codes.

In the U.S., that particular card has a 3+2 year warranty for a total of 5 years warranty. I've got a pair of them and they are quite nice.

More info in main RX 480 review thread.

Is your i7 overclocked to 4GHz+? If not, I'd strongly recommend doing that if you are comfortable doing so. It will help a lot with minimum FPS in many recent games. Either way with an i7 OP isn't going to be bottlenecked with either card, so he has options :)

Is that a 2600 or a 2600k? Either way the 480 or 1060 6gb is still the answer. Wait for BF1 to release and see which runs the game better. Beta should be soon and we'll have a better idea.

I can max every game I play, including skyrim and BFBC2, with an HD7970.

Ark does struggle a bit on max settings, but thats the only one. I recommend a 290X 4/8gb or a 390X 8gb. You can get both for fairly cheap (cheaper than a 480) and they should easily play every game you want.

gtx1060..is the best choice, and when you overclock the only choice.

Or not listen to someone who blindly recommends only one brand every. single. time. regardless of performance. In short, wait for the game you want to pick the best tool for the job once that has been proven. The 1060 6gb and the 480 are so close in performance that it really does come down to what games you plan on playing. And if you do decide on the 1060 make sure it is the 6gb version. The 3gb version is not the same card and performs decently worse.

Did you already buy the 2700? Is it the "K"? If not I'd highly recommend buying a newer CPU instead.
Its not. It was given to me from a friend so im going to use it for the time being. Ill upgrade to the the intel 7th series next year when i get my taxes back. I did see people get 3.8-4.0ghz out of it though so im going to try and see what i can do .

Personally I'd save up a $150 more and get a GTX 1070.

If you really want the best gaming PC you can build and stay on a budget then that would be $100+ worth spending IMO.

No worries, even a stock 2700 will easily push a gtx1060.

It's not as clear cut as you made it.

Sapphire RX 480 is 22% faster at 1080p and 20% faster at 1440p than MSI Gaming GTX1060 in COD: Black Ops 3

BF1 is going to be DX12, which suggests it has a strong chance to be faster on RX 480, just like RX 480 beats 1060 in Hitman, Deus Ex, Doom in next gen APIs. My advice is to not upgrade until October as prices are bound to subside by that time. At the same time, we may see last gen discounts on Fury X and 980Ti (for example $299), as well as rebates/coupons on RX 480/GTX1060/1070 cards. Makes little sense to purchase any card right now for COD or BF1 as those games aren't out for another 2 months.

Right now a lot of $280-300 AIB RX 480s and 1060 are inflated in terms of value. We should see a $400 GTX1070 drop to $360-370 around November, as is usually the case with the best GPU deals during November.

Make sure to overclock it to 4.0Ghz at minimum. My advice as above is for you to wait. It's impossible to know right now what GPU/CPU hardware will be required to hit 60 fps minimums on Ultra at 1080p in BF1 or the new COD game. Keep an eye out on sales for GTX1070/980Ti cards in October/November as those are far more likely to help you maintain 60 fps minimums than the RX 480/1060 class. FYI, your CPU could become a serious bottleneck unless overclocked.

I like to stick to the facts , not future telling, or using games that might represent the next newest COD.

Here are some facts...........If you buy a gtx1060 today.......
You will have the fastest solution for under $300.
You will have a card that generates less heat in your case than any card in its class.
You will have a card that uses less power than any card in its class.
You will have a card that will overclock and mop the floor with anything in its class in every game except mabe Hitman.
You will have a quiet card.

These are the facts we have today, FACTS! not future telling stories, a bunch of mabe's , could be's or we think.

The 1060 6gb is the best card for under 300$. Fact!

He is only on a normal 1080p monitor and the 1070 would be overkill for that really.

You mean using games that might represent the next COD, like the next COD?

Im looking to get battlefield 1 and the new call of duty so i need something to be able to play those games

He wants to buy the best card for the next Battlefield and COD.

Waiting for reviews/benchmarks of those games is the best bet considering he is building a computer to play them.

I missed the part where he say's " he is buying this card only to play Battlefield and COD...?
I find it hard to believe when he plays 2 games he will stop playing games ?
Is that what your implying?
Please show me the quote.
It really don't matter for under 300$, the 1060 IS the best card.

If he wants to wait for the games to release thats for him to decide.
