First off I am running a P4 3ghz cpu on an intel 865grh mobo with stock HSF. This is the bundle from intel last year. It was running just fine until about a month ago when I switched my OS from win xp with SP1 to win xp with S2. Before I never had a problem with any overheating. I ws able to do 3 or 4 thing at a time includings encoding a dvd with dvdshrink. Now when ever I try to run dvdshrink even by itself my pc shuts off as says it was overheating. Now I have been running a cpu temp monitor and the temp is around 130F when the pc shuts off. I read that the cpu can easly handle over 150F.
Now my question is.
1)Is there a new setting included in SP2 that auto shuts off your PC at a certain temp?
2)Is there a conflict between dvdshrink and SP2?
3)Should I try a different cpu cooler?
4)Should I RMA the cpu and mobo to see if that is thge problem?

That isnt that hot is it, 130F? Are you running a Prescott? 130F is around 55C, doesnt seem to be too high, assuming thats when he is doing his encoding and all. Maybe check out your bios too, the auto power shutoff temp could be the culprit.
