Need help with overclocking XP1800+ past XP2000

Hey everyone. I have unlocked my XP1800+ and overclocked it to XP2000+ without a hitch. I am running it on a Asus A7V333 mainboard and crucial pc2100 memory. I tried setting the multiplier to 13.0x but the processor thinks it is a 733MHz processor with this setting. (13.5x and 14.0x result in some increase but still not normal) I used Sandra and CPUID to make sure the post is what it really is and not a bios thing. I am hoping that there is someone out there that has gotten around the problem. The option that I am left with is to increase the FSB and got it up to 139Mhz FSB. Beyond that I need PC2700....

If anyone can help me out that would be great.

I'd be surprised if your crucial pc 2100 can only handle a 139 mhz fsb. Have you tried increasing the cpu or memory voltage? Kick up the cpu voltage first, you should be able to push the fsb more.

Yeah, have you tried pushing the Crucial past 139fsb?? I'm having no problems putting my XP1500+ up to XP2000 speed

Do you need to unlock a XP1800+ processor? I thought you just toy w/ the multipler. IF I need to unlock it, anyone have any good articles I can read up on? A link would be appreciated. Lastly, I just my xp1800 chip today and its green. Is it suppose to be green? I thought the 1800+ are brown. The core reads AX1800DMT3C AGOIA etc etc. ???

I have a gigabyte GA-VRX board and samsung ddr 2100. what combinations should i try? 11.5x150 MHz = 1725 MHz? or can it go way beyond this. any help would be appreciated. i've never overclocked before even though i had an A7V and a 800 T-bird before.

The reason you cannot go higher is that the highest cpu multiplier with your unlocked CPU is 12.5 even though your board supports the higher multipliers. What happens when you go above 13 (12.5) is that the multiplier drops back down to 5.5, and hence that is why you get only 733 mhz (5.5 X 133). If your CPU was a 2200+ or higher chip, it would probably work with the higher multipliers on your board.

I had a similar problem with my Shuttle board and after doing some research made this discovery.

Your options are to run a FSB higher than 133.....or.....do a hard mod on the chip to overcome the 12.5X CPU multiplier (see painting guide at ocinside.com).
