Hello, i have built up new system some days ago. It consists of g3258 and asus h81m-plus. I have never done overclocking before and today was my first try. I couldnt find any similar guide.
Shortly about my attempts:
So i went to bios and tried to change multiplier but all i could get is from 3.2 to 3.7GHZ by only using frequency multiplier , when i tried to multiply 3.8 it automatically moved to stock speed. I didn't know that i should also use cache ratio, and after i applied higher number of it 36 i were able to push further up to 4.0 GHZ. From this point i couldnt do anything without adding more voltage to core. Stock is 1.075V.
Finally i got 4.5GHZ by setting core mult. to 45, cache ratio to 40 and voltage to 1.250.
I havent done long prime95 CPU stress-test but 30 minutes test showed stable, core 1 max 74C and core 2 67C.

So now i need to know couple of things:
1 First of all how this cache ratio work and how high it should be compared to core multiplier? Also i have tuned to equal min and max cache ratio, should they be different?
2 Was it right to start with core multiplier, continue with cache ratio and end on voltage?
Is there something else in BIOS i could increase or decrease for better results?

4 What max. temperature could u recommend to go for?
5. Do you know any program that i can use to control fan speeds? Asus Ai suite 3 doesnt show the right temperature max 40 so i cant tune my fan there.

I hope this topic will help me to understand better and help to archive higher frequency with lower voltage/heating.
Sorry for my English :(

You already have a thread open for the same subject. Use that one please.
