Hi all,

Need some help with NeverWinter Nights.

I am playing a fighter with the bard characters as my sidekick.

I am at the last area of Chapter 1 called Helm's Hold. I am getting my arse whipped by these creatures called bodaks, I think that what they are called and my sidekick gets killed instantly. Any strategies to get by these guys would be helpful. The spells they cast kills me with one or two turns and there are about 2 or 3 of them.

Thoughts.

Yup, they got quite comprehensive walkthroughs. And please, do yourself a favor and get Daelan RedTIger (or whatever his name is) as your sidekick. That boy whoops ass.

AND DO NOT USE stat cheats! If you alter your stats (strength, constituiton or what have you) via a cheat, the game will not transition between chapters. Just a heads-up.

Been there, done that.

Need specific help. The walkthru is too general.

btw, I chose the bard because she can heal. ;)

Yes it will. On my second playthrough I jacked up my chars stats to quickly breeze through the first few chapters and it worked fine.

personally i never had a problem with helms hold but maybe u should try this:

1.get ur sidekick to heal u and make sure she is behind u.
2.try to use weapons or armour with specific protection against creatures.
3.try to lure the creatures out one by one using a long range spell/bow/crossbow, then take each one out separately. Use healing potions/spells afterwards
4. if all fails save ur game. then bring up the console. type "DebugMode 1" then "dm_god". that will give u god mode. kill the creatures. i think if u type "dm_god" again then you turn god mode off but im not sure(if god mode wont turn off then u can revert to ur save). turn debug mode off by typing "DebugMode 0"

err...about the stat editing.. if you modify scores/stats or certain other things (like some items) and you haven't made
.ini adjustments, the game won't let you progress from one chapter to another, and will dump you out of the game with a message about illegal characters. There are two ways to get around this. In single player mode, edit your nwplayer.ini file and change Single Player Enforce Legal Characters=1 to a 0 to cover ability score modifications, and change Single Player ItemLevelRestrictions=1 to a zero as well to cover illegal item restrictions. In multiplayer mode, the server player must have those very same options set so the server doesn't check for character legality between chapters.

i've been using a pure monk and while it was a little though in the beginning, he is now a one man army :)

I never really liked multiclassing. Some of the best character bonuses only come if you reach level 20 as a single class.
