Need help with NV Silencer 5

My friend is experiencing problems with his Albatron 6800 GT AGP video card. He ordered an NV Silencer and put it on his graphics card. However, he noticed that his temps for his GPU were higher than what he had with the stock heat sink. What would be the problem here? Perhaps there is not enough nv paste on the GPU? Any help would be beneficial. thanks.

Or perhaps to much paste. Bottom line, if his temps are higher with superior cooling, something is wrong and he needs to reinstall the NV-5.

when he takes off the nv see if there is thermal paste actually on the nv silencer's heatsink. I just installed mine yesterday and I didn't have enough thermal paste/compound on the GPU to make a connecton w/ the heatsink and my temps were off the charts; like 90 C idle. I took off the silencer put a little more paste/compound on the gpu and tightened the screws down a bit more and now I'm idle at 40 C
