I just got my new Dell 9300 today, and I have been trying to change the boot order so I can boot from the dvd burner first. I went into the bios and attempted to change it the way the little message suggested, but I cannot get it to become the first boot device. The screen says to press U/D, but that doesnt work. Any help would be great.

There should be a key that lets you select a boot device. I think on my I6000 it's either f8 or f12. Then you just select the dvd drive from the list and you should be good to go.

Demented, I wish it were that easy. According to the options displayed, it says to press U/P to change the boot order. I don't know what they mean by that, I tried Page UP/Down, the - and = keys, and the arrow keys. Nothing seems to work.

Have you tried using the U and D keys?

Also, when you reboot your computer, near the end of the post, look up in the top right of the screen, and it will say something like 'Boot Menu' and I bvelieve it's F12. If you press F12 at that point, it will bring up a menu letting you choose what you want to boot off of, this way you don't need to go into the BIOS to change it everytime.

F2 to enter BIOS, then expand the "System" category, go down to "Boot Sequence", and press Enter. Use the "U" and "D" keys (not Up arrow or Down arrow, the ACTUAL U and D keys) to move devices up or down in the list. Then press "Space" to enable or disable a device. If you want your CD/DVD/CD-RW drive to be the first-boot device, then move it above the Internal HDD. That covers it, I believe. I had to go in my i9300's BIOS to see for myself ;) .
