Need help with new CPU and MB

I build a new system that is very unstable.

Specs:
Prescot 3.0, 800 FSB w/1 MB L2 cache
Aopen AX4C-G motherboard
Kingston 512 MB

I was informed that the problem is that the MB can't handles 1MB L2 cache.
Errors are "checksum erro default loaded, slect F1 or Del." . CPU is recorgzine as 1.38Ghz.
The system works ok (play games and surfs internet), but the errors are after each reboot and an alarm goes off just before POST at each restart.

The online vendor won't take back the CPU or MB. It may be cheaper to get a compatible MB as the CPU cost me an arm and a leg.

Amazingly the BIOS sees the CPU as 3.0 and even at 4.0 a few times. Believe me it runs very stable at 4.0 for day as long as I don't reboot. Also, tried manual setting in BIOS, but it reverts back at reboot.

Who told you the mobo doesn't support the CPU. That board should have no problems with that CPU.

The amount of cache shouldn't matter, maybe it's Prescott CPU it has a problem with. Have you looked for BIOS updates?

Intel Tech Support informed me by phone that my trouble is that Prescot CPU is fairly new version and Aopen AX4C-G is an older MB which doesn't support the 1 MB L2 cache. He claimed the the MB would work with Prescot 3.0, 533 FSB.
I updated MB to the lastest BIOS. Also, RMA the MB and Geeks.com returns it as tested good.

That is correct. Except for the checksum and the alarm at Post it runs great. Any way I purchase another MB. It's a nice MB thought so I may keep it and order a Northwood CPU later.
