Hi, i'm new to this forum and i'm a total newbie when it come to hardware and how to combine them for the bets performance. Hope I can get some clear information and help on finishing this build.

1: Max setting gaming( Skyrim, the secret world, LoL, Dota2 ect), Photoshop cs6/Painting Painting with high detail. Recording video, streaming, watching blu ray movie. 3D work in Maya, zbrush, autodesk ect.

2. 1500-2000$ CND

3. Canada, so ncix.ca, newegg.ca, memoryexpress.com, directcanada.com, canadacomputers.com, shopbot.ca

4: Intel, Nvidia, Asus, Samsung are all good mark I've enjoyed over the years with out trouble.

5: 5 Samsung f4 2tb drive, 1hitachi 1tb 7200 drive. mouse keyboard monitor.

7. I plan on overclocking.

8. 2560x1600 and 1980x1080.

9. This weekend up to next week unless there trouble appearing again -_-.

X. I've got windows 7 pro already. Rest can wait.

Plus: I'm looking for the best performance and best cooling for a good overclock. Of course, I'd only like one or two fluff stuff, which are silent and "maybe" portable with handle but really the last one isn't needed.

So far with all research and forums i've been to... it's coming to this.

Every piece can be modified/changed.

Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi/Define R4, Silverstone FT02B, Corsair 650D/550D, CollerMaster Storm Trooper or Thelmaltake Chaser.

Mobo: Asrock Extreme4 or Asus sabertooth z77
SSD; 240/256gb Crucial M4, Samsung 830 or Vertex/agility 4
Ram: (alrdy bought) Gskill 16gb sniper 1.5v
PSu: Seasonic Platinum 860w (Still trying to figure out if platinum is gimmick)
GPU: Evga Geforce gtx680 4gb
CPU: 2600k or 2700k or maybe 3960x or 3770k. But ivy doesn't seem to worth the 130$.
CPU Cooler: H100 or Noctua D14

So that's what I'm coming with... The case is the hardest part I need to chose but It seem it's the least important part for cooling so I guess I need to do more search on this one.

I've seem some water cooling, for cheap... I don't know much about that and I'm wondering if I should experiment on it or not ... Hope you guy can clarify my doubt and help me make a very good performance build that will last me a while.

The Fractal Design, Silverstone and Corsair cases are in a league apart from the CoolerMaster and Thermaltake options. Personally, I would grab the Define R4 or Corsair 550D for this build. They're both big enough for this build without being ridiculous and are designed for quiet operation.

Mobo: Asrock Extreme4 or Asus sabertooth z77

Of these two, the Extreme4. The Sabertooth is way overpriced.

SSD; 240/256gb Crucial M4, Samsung 830 or Vertex/agility 4

Samsung 830 if it's within 10-15% of the M4, otherwise the M4.

Ram: (alrdy bought) Gskill 16gb sniper 1.5v

Good.

PSu: Seasonic Platinum 860w (Still trying to figure out if platinum is gimmick)

No way in hell is this worth the money. This $60 AR XFX 750W will do SLI GTX 680 if you want (see below) and costs nearly 75% less.

GPU: Evga Geforce gtx680 4gb

Not worth the ~$600 asking price money. You'll get better performance out of a pair of GTX 670's for roughly the same cost after getting rid of the ridiculous power supply.

CPU: 2600k or 2700k or maybe 3960x or 3770k. But ivy doesn't seem to worth the 130$.

i5 3570K. Your primary uses (gaming, Photoshop) don't benefit enough from HT to be worth it. An LGA 2011 build like the 3960X is obviously completely out of the question.

CPU Cooler: H100 or Noctua D14

A Scythe Mugen 3 Rev B will take your CPU to a reasonable 24/7 overclock, especially considering that you are interested in quiet operation.

I don't know why, my mind still push me toward the FT02 since i've read many review ect. I think the FT02 would still beat temperature against R4 and 550D.

Right now there's a good deal on extreme4 at 120$ and extreme6 at 170$, which one to get.

By the way, I've read some post about the RMA for Asrock to cause trouble, is it still safe to go for this brand?

I can either get the PSU you recommended or I could also go with OCZ Fatal1ty 1000w
for 159$ with 20MIR so 139$. It's gold certified vs bronze certified. Since one GPU won't get it to max load it would be quiet most of the time I Believe.

That's the hardest part -_- now, before ti was the case lol. Some forum/review say the 7970 is better, while some other say the 680 is better. The 670 seem to be almost as good as the 680 while a little slower. But is it really worth the extra money for the little boost. I don't think so... It's the same for the 2700k vs 3770k confusing problerm I had recently.

Ok, like I said above, why 3570k? ISn't Ivy bridge over priced and run hotter compared to Sandy Bridge, even for a 7% gain, if I can OC my Sb higher then my IB it would actually be the same? Or does IB have more HT boost then SB?

Only reason I'm a little bit scared of these kind of CPU cooler and was going for closed loop was because I have 2 cat, they're losing hair like crazy. I just cleaned my whole chamber and... 2day later it's all over. MY computer right now is having trouble running 100tabs in chrome which is scaring me haha.

If it's possible to hit a 5ghz stable, actually more like 4.8ghz stable, due to my silent build, what would be best? still go for a scythe mugen type or a closed loop type?

Again, thank alot for the quick answer I was slow in responding but I'll get this done quicker now!

Edit: Also, Intel 520 Cherryville 240gb for 220$, worth it? Can't seem to find the samsung 830 with rebate -_- or should I go with crucial M4 still?

The FT02 is also about twice as much as a 550D or R4. No way is it twice as good.

No brainer, get the Extreme4. There isn't $50 worth of extra performance or features in an Extreme6. ASRock is a perfectly fine brand.

750W is already overkill, 1000W is ludicrously so. You'll actually draw more power (and thus generate more heat) with a 1000W PSU because you're going to be way off the deep end of the efficiency curve.

Who's saying anything about the HT enabled processors? Get the i5 3570K, it costs less and you don't need HT. An i5 2500K would be OK if you can get it for $180 or so, but otherwise take the extra performance of IB.

Water coolers still need a fan and heatsink to remove heat from the system. That fan and heatsink just so happen to be connected to the base by two hoses filled with water instead of heatpipes. Any cat-induced fan clogs will affect both.

Also, you'll be lucky to hit 4.8 GHz with any out-of-the box cooler, water or air. You need to get a fully-custom water loop to hit those kinds of frequencies. It also won't be very quiet because you'll have to disable the power saving features to clock that high (Vdroop will kill you otherwise).

No problem.

A 520 is still a Sandforce, even though it has an Intel name on it. It'd probably be fine, but you won't catch me buying one unless it's cheaper than an M4.
