Need help with new build

I'm trying to do my first build. On POST I get a "system failed CPU test" message. Can someone help me with this while I wait for the ASUS help desk to get back to me. I've checked to make sure the CPU (athlon 64 3200) is seated correctly. Do I have a bad motherboard or a bad CPU?

Forgot to say this is a Asus K8V SE Deluxe board.

try resetting the cmos.

Make certain the memory stick(s) are properly seated too.

Thanks for the help. Being a first time builder, I somehow overlooked the second ATX power connection to the motherboard. After connecting that, everything was fine.
