Hey I have recently been assigned the task of completing the scenario
in which I am the systems admin. for a home network of 3 financial
services bulidings and the management of integrated systems that are
connected to 2 integrated customer systems (banks). I have 100
employees with varying degrees of security access (low, med, high).
Every employee has a computer, and there are 2 network printers/copiers
in every building. I am allowed any resource necessary as this is a
learning experience exercise. Could someone point me in the right
direction. I have knowledge of home networks but someting like this
seems overwhelming. Anyone know where to start? any help would be
greatly appreciated.

I read this twice and I still don't see what your question is. You want to know how to setup the network, administrate it, or what? ;)

It is actually for an internship, not a class, an I am allowed to be as resourceful as necessary. What I have to do is design this network as far as the architecture involved (i.e. switches, hubs, firewalls, etc.)

You have to design a large network and there are too many variables for me to be of to much help. Off the top of my head you are going to have to figure out what kind of WAN links your going to use so site distance/bandwidth needs are factors, security needs to be very high because of the nature of the data so Firewalls, vpns, etc will be needed, you might need to design a SAN for data storage, then of course there is the lan, Operating system (microsoft network some flavor of Unix or what?), server hardware, have to design the network backbone, switch layout spec the hardware, it goes on and on. You need to hit networking websites or get a good networking book. If you were doing this in the real world it would take a considerable amount of time gathering information of the customers needs before you even start to build the network. Good luck!

Anyone got one of the networking projects that they got a failing grade or a "D" on?

Do your own damn homework, that is how you learn :|
