Im overclocking my sempron 2800+ on an MSI K8N Neo Platinum (nforce 3 250gb). When i get to around the 260-270 range on the HT frequency (or fsb if you wanna call it that) I get a blue screen loading windows.

I am using a sata drive, but the port im using (#3 and #4) has an independent clock. I confirmed this by plugging the drive into the #1 port and I get the kernel error infamous with an overclocked sata drive.

at 270mhz, my HT is set to 2.5x (675mhz) so thats well below the 800 limit
memory is at 133 (.66) so it operates at 180mhz, well below the 200 rating of my memory.

I've tried upping the voltage on the chip a little, but it has no effect on the problem.

Is there something I am missing? any ideas?

ok 2 things i have learned check the ram timmings if you don't know how to do this (like i didn't/don't) set it to a higher settings and write down the settings cas, ras2cas... and then set it to your current settings and manually put what you wrote down in there. It worked for me. I know there are alot more easer ways and if some one can show US pleas do. Also it will be easer if you list your full system specs IE like in my sig. Are you trying to OC in windows or the Bios?

I think I've figured it out...I think my power supply isnt able to handle the extra load I've put on it recently, including adding 2 more case fans, upgrading my mobo and starting this overclock. It's a cheap 350 watter and I think I need to invest in something a little more decent.

Increase the voltage on your processor or RAM by a tiny bit, usually that allows me to boot to windows after I get a blue screen.

Okay, I'll try that. I dont think a PSU problem can cause blue screens...I unplugged a bunch of my devices and im still having the problem.
