I just finished building my computer, I have a chaintech VNF4 ultra mobo, eVGA 6600 GT, 1GB corsair value pc3200 ram, a CD-RW drive from y Dell, and a maxtor 120 Gb SATA HD. I have put all the components in, along with my 550 watt logisys PSU, and plugged everything in, and turned it on, the case powers up fine, and the mouse IR lights up, as well as the case lights, but the video card will not display to the monitor, I can't see anything, everything is humming along nicely, I need the display to work. I'm using a dell 17" LCD monitor. Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Garrick

Do you have another video card you can test in it? It doesnt have to be AGP, but if another video card works then you know its your video card for sure. Does the computer beep at all (this wont help if you dont have the computers speaker plugged in)?

I'm not sure...I can't get it to display anything, there is no beep with the speakers plugged in, it sounds like everything is starting up normal. I have no way to test this video card anywhere else as its PCI, and my other computers are AGP.

Dude, if you have other computers with video cards you can test it out just fine. Take one of your AGP cards from another computer and test it in the one you are having problems with. Or take the PCI card you cant get to work and try it on another computer, whats the big deal? Even if the other computers have AGP cards in them, you can take it out and put your PCI card in just for testing purposes. You dont even have to boot all the way to windows.

Ummm what kind of card is that PCI?? hmmmm...Anyway take one of the cards out of the other PC's you have even though they are AGP (I would hope this board has an AGP slot) if the AGP card works in this machine then it sounds like it's likely to be the PCI video card you have is bad.

Apart from the obvious:
* Is the video card seated properly in the slot.
* Is the fan on the video card spinning.
* Is the monitor cable plugged into the video card securely.

I can't think of what the problem could be, assuming the monitor was working OK before. Maybe a dodgy card?
