From ibm.com

How to replace power-on passwords with your fingerprint

1. In the Fingerprint section of the Fingerprint software Control Center, complete the Enable Power on Security section.
2. Shutdown the system. On the first reboot you will be asked for your password and fingerprints. The second time you reboot it will only require your fingerprint.

Note: If you have enrolled more than one finger, the first time you use that finger to replace the Power on Password Security you will also be asked for your password.

*Must first set a power on password in the bios.........And don't forget it for future reference.

Not to be morbid or anything but I'm wondering what you would do if your fingerprint was no longer readable (ie. cut, burned off, lost the finger). Would you still be able to just use the PW?

your fingerprint will always come back if the skin is cut off, it's a proven scientific phenomenon

1. You can enroll all ten fingers if you want. You have 15 minutes after you cut off your finger to use the scanner with that finger before said finger is too dead to actually work.

2. By default, the software lets you use ctrl+alt+del to supply your windows password or CSS passphrase instead - per a US gov't law passed in 1973... go figure.

You can prevent it from allowing ctrl+alt+delete override, but if you are not in a corporate IT environment, I wouldn't advise it.
