You don't need an i7 for gaming and schoolwork. No improvement over the i5 4670k. That HDD you picked is a 5400 RPM HDD, which is really slow and IMO a bad idea. A Seagate Barracuda is $69.99, with 7200 RPM and 64 MB cache. You also won't need the CPU cooler as you won't be OCing. IMO, the Gigabyte M7 THOR is a much better deal. It's really smooth and actually comfy for its shape 😀.
Dunno too much about the Monitor and KB though..

A few thoughts:
- CPU: That's the MicroCenter in-store only price for the CPU. Since you aren't going to be overclocking and don't need an i7 anyway, you should grab a less expensive i5 4570 for $200.
- HSF: Good
- Mobo: Good, but you don't need a Z87 board if you're not going to overclock. Check out the ASRock H87 Pro4 for $88 instead.
- RAM: Good
- SSD : Good
- HDD : That's a 2.5" HDD you have in there. Since you're building a desktop PC, you should get the 3.5" version for $65
- GPU: Good, but the 7950 3GB is a better deal IMHO at $220 AR
- Sound card: Not needed
- Wired NIC: Definitely not needed
- PSU: Good
- ODD : Too expensive. Get this Lite-ON for $15 AP
- OS: Good
- Monitor: OK, but you can get a Dell S2240M IPS for $30 more.
- Mouse, KB: OK for basic use

I don't see a case anywhere in the build, you probably want to get one of those. Check out the Corsair 200R for $50 AR

Ok This is what I got from the advice on the last build. Any other notes or corrections I missed?

Seems correct. Everything looks good, but I kinda like Rosewill's cheap cases over the Carbide 200R. The Rosewill Challenger U3 and Galaxy cases are probably my favorite.

PS: THEY'RE SO BLUE!!

Edit: Also, you should get an i5 4670 since you aren't going to overclock.

Awesome really excited about this. I appreciate all the help. Do I need anything for when I put this thing together like thermal compound or anything?

Just realized my SSD was for a notebook. Changed to Samsung 840 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk

LOL, I didn't even notice it. Eagle eye skill -1

PS: You won't need any thermal compound for the CPU cooler (whether aftermarket or stock) as they come with them either pre-applied or included.

All normal SATA SSDs work in both laptops and desktops. Don't ask me why Newegg categorizes them the way that they do. The Ultra Plus will work fine in a desktop (not that the 840 is bad either).

Swap the CPU to the i5 4570 for $200 and you're good to go.
