What?s up

My other computer has been a pain in the ass, and I can?t figure out what is wrong. Ok s my problem is that when I start the computer up the mother board post and everything seems to be ok but when it try?s to boot to Windows XP the boot logo appears but very faint. At First I thought it was my hard drive but after running a couple of tests it seemed that It was not my DRAM or HD, so i now believe that it is the PSU. So if anybody experienced this problem and had any ideas in fixing this problem let me know. This computer was built by me.

OK so here is what I troubled shooted.

Wired error
- ?Overclocking failed! Please enter setup to reconfigure.? Weird since I was not overcocking.
- When I tried to start in safe mode it stopped at this line ?muliti (0) disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\Windows\system32\Drive rs\Mup.sys
Test
- Memtest86 vs 3.3 ? All Clear with 0 Errors
- Seagate tools ? Ran a HD test and everything came back Normal

I also made sure that everything was connected inside the case from the motherboard to the PSU. Any help would be great, And thanks in advance.

well if the hardware checks out ok, then I would suspect registry corruption to be the culprit. you can either do a repair install of XP or a checkdisk repair from the recovery console. I'd do the latter first. Boot off your WinXP cd, then when prompted hit R for recovery console. When you get to the prompt, type in "chkdsk /r" without the quotes, and let it do its thing. Depending on how much corruption there is and the size of the hard drive, this can take hours. When it's done it'll tell you how many errors were found and recovered, then you can reboot and try to get to your Windows desktop.

Good luck
