Need help with my 7470M Radeon

I have noticed the past month or so that my HP laptop has been losing some of it's performance. Now granted it's not much of a gaming pc, but with the right settings it does just fine, and I've had to turn the settings down further. A 3DMark test tells me that it's my videocard being the issue. Any ideas what might be the cause of the slowdown?

Failing heatsink/cooling equipment? Have you noticed more heat output as of late?

Ditto on cooling being the cause. Laptop cooling is marginal at most in most cases. Bit of dust and things go south quickly.

So what would I do to make sure any and all dust is out? Also if it is the heatsink failing, is there a way to fix that? The whole issue was that my laptop never really used my gpu to it's full extent. I did notice that by enabling the laptop to use the gpu to it's full extent the temperatures have increased.
