Allright, I'm gonna try to start at the beginning and keep it short as well. I'm pretty darn new to oc-ing. With some help I managed to push up my fsb to 245, at a 1:1 ratio, cpu-z sais my ram is running at 245.4 MHz. My ram is kingston KVR400X64C25/512, 2 sticks. I put it at 3/4/12/4 and 2T. Now, I basicaly read, that if I want to push up my FSB any higher, at the multiplier of 9, I have to lower the max memclock. So I did, I put it at 333, instead of 400 ( the mobo only lets me pick 333/266/200 etc etc). But, as you can guess, it wont POST with the fsb at 245, not a viable ratio. So, I put the FSB at 222, and it worked. So thats a viable ratio. But now what ? I did some # crunching, at landed at 277.5 for my FSB to run at. No go, basicaly, if I put my FSB above 250, it wont POST.

I should mention that, when the max memclock was at 333, and the fsb at 222, cpu-z said the memory was running at 181.6. Thats weird, no ? So my question would be, what ratio's should I try, or what am I doing wrong ? I tried upping the vcore, to 1.55, to no avail. The ram would be at 2.7, but I figured since I lowered it, it should run at 2.6 as well * stock *

Also, I did lower the HT to a multiplier of 3, just to be sure, since I read that barely affects your performance anywayz.

Right now im running at 400 ddr, 245 FSB, multiplier of 9, vcore at 1.4v and ram at 2.7v
Any help, or some pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated !!! IF i left something out, or forgot to mention something important, please let me know.

Can you lower the FSB and increase the multiplier, or is it locked? If it is locked, maybe look to see if there's a BIOS update that unlocks it?

And by 3/4/12/4 timings...i assume the 12 is tras? Those seem fine...I take it you loosened them from stock, so I presume you had to in order to stable at your current OC?

Only other thing I can say is that going from 222-277.5 is kind of a big jump. Try pushing up from 222 slowly, increasing by some multiple of 3 (6 or 9), until you find something else that's stable. Only increase vcore as needed...and in small increments, so you don't end up giving your chip too much voltage.

The multiplier isn't locked, but it's at it's highest allready, at 9.0, which is stock btw. I can only lower it. As for the ram, yes i had to loosen up the timings, to stabilize the OC, but i might try and tighten them up a bit, later on.

As for the big jump, I'm running at 245*9 now, going lower wouldnt accomplish much, I only went to 222 with the max memclock at 333 to see I could lower the max memclock at all and get it to boot. I tried putting the fsb at 250 going up to 285, but nothing worked. It did make the bios go whacko though, and I had to reset the cmos, so before I dive in again I need to know more ^^

I did have the vcore at max, 1.55 ( cpu-z sais its 1.6 then )

Any more suggestions ?

I'm not entirely sure off the top of my head, sorry. (Responding to your request to check out this thread.) :(

A8N5X's don't overclock all that well, I hear. I would definitely start with updating your BIOS to the latest revision, before going any farther. It really sounds as if you're having BIOS problems, with what you've said so far.
