ok guys i've got an l7s5a ECS motherboard....and ive got PC2700 512 KINGSTON ram in it...trying to get my 2500+ barton to run. When i turn on the system, fresh cmos...it detects it as a 1900+, to get it to 2500+ i set the cpu frequency to 166(defaults to 133)

it leaves the ram at a 1:1 ratio(which im assuming is fine) but the system is not stable at all at 2500+ speeds. Ive tried different ram, and adjusting the DRAM frequency down to 133(was a 5:4 ratio if i remember correctly) in any case...the system is just downright NOT stable at 2500+....and im really getting lost.

i originally thought the problem could've been video card related, because it started occuring after i installed new catalyst drivers, but then after removing those, and even trying several different video cards (i've got too much junk, FS thread coming soon) it still freezes.

I was thinking of setting the multiplier manually with jumpers on the motherboard...but dont know what multiplier to use with what clock speed. This isnt a heat issue either, steady at around 100 farenheit....not sure what that is in celcious....but im really getting lost for a fix here guys!! HELP, i've built 100's of computers, and have never had this problem :(
