Just recieved my MSI K8T and Athlon 64 3000+ and 1GB of Crucial ram (512x2) from Mwave.com. They tested it and put it together so I dropped it into my case and hook everything up. Push power and nothing happens. The diagnostic LEDs claim there is something wrong with CPU, damaged or installed improperly. I'm hoping to not have to touch the CPU so I'm looking for other problems. The HDs dont spin up, the CPU fan comes on, and it just sits. The manual mentions a 4 pin 12v connect from the PSU to supply power for the CPU. is this needed? It would suprise me if it was needed but not provided. I tried clearing the CMOS but that doesnt help. Any clues?

You need a newer power supply with the 4-pin 12v connector. Surprised that your PSU doesn't already have this, as every new PSU I have seen in the last 4 years or so (since the Pentium 4 was released) has had one.
