okey so i got a free ECS motherboard from frys with there combo deal. Ive so far had no problem when i tried to install 1gb of ram but a friend of mine wanted to tweek his system a bit more and add 2gb. So here is where the problem begins

Board is ECS: R410L/800-M
Ram: Patriot Value Ram PC5300 2x1GB 667mhz ram
PSU: the one that came with the Aspire Case

So here is the problem. when i install 1gb or switch out each module in both slot 1 and slot 2 the system runs fine. It boots, goes into windows, works well, everything. So im guessing theres nothing wrong with the ram i guess.

Problem however occurs when i try to install both 1gb module to make the system a total of 2gb. The system will boot, goes into bios, but when trying to go into windows, i get a blue screen.

This only happens when i try to install 2gb, for when i just install 1gb the system is fine in both slots.

So im thinking the board doesnt like having 2gb? or the board doesnt like having 2x1gb modules? Should i return the ram and get a different pair from lets say OCZ? or corsiar value ram?

Is there a funky bug with the R410 chipset when using 2gb? This board only has 2 dimm slots so moving the ram on other dimm slots is not possible. If worse comes to worse i could return both the board and ram saying it was not compatible.

PS ive also tried adding a video card and the system boots up fine as long as it has 1gb! its just when i add 2gb the thing hands. Someone please help me with this issue as its driving me crazy!

okey i think its a problem with ECS and ram compatibility. The board doesnt like DDR2 667 ram in excess of 1gb. Anyone else know of this issue?

I don't think it's quite that simple. I believe the motherboard will not work properly with two memory sticks. I have the same combo from Fry's, and I have tried two different sets of 2 x 512 meg DDR2 memory. If I use one memory stick, all is fine. With two memory sticks, all is NFG.
