Ok, I bought a new system awhile back, dual Gforce 8800GTS etc.. SLI capable motherboard.
Since I have no room to put an internal sound card I put in an external. Well with a multitude of problems and just pure frustration I think I finally narrowed the problem down.
I'm not very knowledgeable with USB so I don't know how all that works, but apparently when I plug too many USB devices into my machine, regardless where I plug them in front/back etc..., it causes the soundcard to get all distorted and screwed up sounding. Now when I try to reboot to fix this, I can't get back into windows right off, it sits there right after the windows logo with the moving bar at the bottom, at a black screen. I have to hit reset until it gets back into windows.
If I happen to take out the last USB device I plugged in before the sound goes all distorted, and reboot it boots up like above with the problem I have to hit reset until it gets booted correctly, but the sound is normal again. I read somewhere that I guess you can't have too many USB items in your system, but again I don't know how this works. So now I have to figure out how to put my sound device, a mouse and keyboard, and a microsoft xbox 360 controller in my USB slots without the sound device from going distorted on me.
I have had nothing but issues with this new computer and I can't do anything about it as I dont know how to trouble shoot these stupid issues.
