Hello there,
I need some help for some memory upgrading for my old motherboard.
It's a Abit BE6, and in the manual, it says it has support for up to 768MB of SDRAM. To be more specific, "the DIMM sockets support 1Mx64(8MB), 2Mx64(16MB), 4Mx64(32MB), 8Mx64(64MB), 16Mx64(128MB) and 32Mx64(256MB) or double sidded DIMM modules." Onboard the motherboard, there are 3 Memory module sockets (six total banks).
My questions is really, can i put one stick of 512MB PC133 SDRAM, and maybe put one stick of 128MB PC133 SDRAM, to total the maximum amount of memory? Is it even possible to go over the 768MB max? And is there going to be any performance enhancement moving from PC100 RAM to PC133 ram, considering the motherboard doesn't support it? (actually I'm not sure if motherboard supports PC133 at all, it just happens to be cheap right now).
Maybe someone can tell me the difference between double sided and single sided memory, or point me to a good place to read up? Maybe some advice?
Thanks very much for your input,
