I thinking of upgrading my motherboard and buying new CPU, memory and a M2. NVMe SSD. Was wondering if the PCIe 3.0 adopter will work with the latest M2 SSD cards to get max output!
I found out the CPU Kaby Lake has move lanes then the Sky Lake for SSDs.A PCIe to M.2 Nvme adapter only routes up to 4 PCIe lanes from your PCIe slot to the M.2 Nvme slot.
What I don't know is if it will just take whatever PCIe generation the PCIe slot provides or if it will signal the PCIe slot to use whatever the adapter is rated for.
Okay the chipset for Kaby Lake then has more lanes!@Harry_Wild As far as I know all CPUs on the LGA 1151 socket provide exactly 16 PCIe lanes. The amount of chipset PCIe lanes depends on the chipset, not the CPU architecture.
