I'm having a bit of trouble after trying to upgrade to Litecoin 0.8.3.7 from a 0.6xxx version, which is mandatory apparently. So I backed up my original wallet, then installed 0.8.3.7, then copied the wallet back to the data directory and opened litecoin-qt and let it update the block chain. That goes okay (except it says "rescanning" every time and that takes a long time) but any time I exit the program or try to do anything with the wallet (ie. send any coins), the program crashes with a "can't open database file wallet.dat" error.
My wallet was encrypted with the 0.6xxx version, would that have anything to do with it?
Right now I reinstalled the 0.6xxx version and it is updating the block chain (which will take several hours it looks like) in hopes that everything is okay with the wallet. Is there anything I SHOULD NOT be doing to make sure my wallet is okay? Any ideas of how to fix the problem?
Thanks for any help.
