Need help with linux HLDS (slackware)

I'm trying to get a Linux half life server going. I have Slackware 9.0 installed.
I have the file hlds_l_3111_full.bin
According to what I've read, "sh hlds_l_3111_full.bin" is supposed to do something cool, but it only tells me "cannot execute binary file"
What don't I know here? I'm having a hard time finding good documentation for installing this stupid thing, nearly everything I can find describes how to install from a tarball, which the current version HLDS distribution file is not.

Keep in mind, I know next to nothing about Linux.
