Need help with limited upgrade path

so yeah, like many people I am "stuck" with my 754 system:
DFI Lanparty board
3400 64
gig of corsair VS
6800gt

no slouch by any means, but I regret my choice of video card(but really the only option during last fall since the x800xl wasn't out yet for agp) since I play almost exclusively H2 based games(CAL for cs and dod;s when it comes out). I want to play those games for as long as I can but at full settings plus AA and AF at my lcd's default res. My frames take a bit hit at 1280x1024 at high + AA and AF.

would it be viable to sell the gt and pick up a x800xl or higher to really try to give a boost in the HL2 based games? or would it be worth ti to wait and see if agp is an option w/ 7800gtx and / or ati's new cards?

Obviously you will get a boost in HL2 running the x800XL, but I don't think you will get astronomically higher frame rates with it. The 6800GT is a pretty strong card, have you thought of replacing the stock HSF with the VF700 and overclocking it?

i have replaced it with nv silencer, would overclocking to to some point (ie ultra speeds) really give me that much of an increase?

also, what is the likelyhood of ati's new card being offered in agp flavor?

^^that's what I have thought about. btw I have always admired ur rig. I always like to see someone put the effort in to make a truely kick ass 754 system.
