Need help with laptop lockups

Recently acquired an old lappy to do some couch internet surfing and am having some strange lockups.

Toshiba Satellite Pro 440CDT
Windows 98SE
1.2g HD
48mb ram
Using a Siemens model SS1021 Wireless Cardbus PC Card 802.11b

I can get on the internet no problem but for some reason after a while of browsing around the system will lock up tight. This might be after 5 minutes or as long as 45 minutes.

I used a wireless usb adapter on it and it worked fine for unlimited time was able to completely update Win98, lots of updates to download and install.

Uninstalled and reinstalled updated drivers for this card, still locks up sooner or later.
Anyone have any experience with this particular card?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it does not drop the connection it just locks up tight. Have to just turn the computer off and restart it. Then of course scandisk wants to run because I did not shut down properly.
