Need help with KVM cable

I have a Linksys kvm cable. It used to work fine but now that I have a new motherboard and mouse I am having problems. I have the logitech cordless mx duo mouse and keyboard. The kvm switch works fine in the windows environment but it does not want to switch via hotkey on the keyboard when another computer is installing windows. Once windows is installed then it works fine. I had a different model keyboard before and did not have this problem. I use the kvm switch while installing windows and working on other computers so I do not have to disconnect all of my cables. Do you think it is the keyboard and mouse or the kvm switch? I had a cordless logitech keyboard before and had no problems at all.

You probably need not to worry about the compatibility while you're installing Windows. I'm going to assume that in order to use this wireless keyboard and mouse, setup would have to load sufficient drivers for these devices. It would probably work just fine with any normal PS2 mouse/keyboard.

The issue is that I build computers on the side. I like being able to swtich back and forth between my computer and the one I am working on. It the one being worked on has to have windows reinstalled then the kvm switch will not work. It worked before with a different keyboard. And that keyboard was a wireless logitech but a different model.

This probably doesn't help, but I've been reading on up KVMs (reviews that is), and I noticed a few other people have had the some problem you do. The KVM doesn't want to work when not in Windows. Try doing a search on google for your specific Linksys KVM.

I thought I saw a suggestion, and from what I remember, it's a real hassle (if at all possible) to make it work.
